CHAPTER 12: Strategy Implementation

Formulating a strategy takes a lot of work, but unless an organization effectively implements that strategy it is unlikely to succeed. This chapter provides a tool—the McKinsey 7-S model--that managers can use to create alignment between the different critical elements of a firm and its operations. Since most strategy implementation involves change, the chapter also provides an overview of the change process and how it can be done effectively. Finally, the chapter presents the concept of “line of sight” to help managers drive implementation down to the level of individual employees.
